Experience the very best of Southern Tasmania on this relaxing five day escape based in the historic waterfront city of Hobart. Discover a region rich in heritage, spectacular scenery, fascinating history and unique cultural attractions.

Enjoy a guided tour of Hobart, taking in Salamanca Place, Battery Point, Sullivans Cove and the beautiful Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens before travelling to the summit of kunanyi/Mount Wellington for breathtaking views across the city and Derwent River. Step back in time at the World Heritage listed Port Arthur Historic Site where stories of Tasmania’s convict past come to life through guided experiences and a harbour cruise.

Travel through the picturesque Derwent Valley to Mount Field National Park and stroll amongst towering forests to the stunning Russell Falls. Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Hobart

Arrive in Hobart and meet your Tour Director before enjoying a welcome lunch. This afternoon discover Tasmania’s capital city on a guided sightseeing tour featuring Salamanca Place, historic Battery Point, Sullivans Cove and the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. Later, weather permitting, travel to the summit of kunanyi/Mount Wellington where spectacular panoramic views stretch across Hobart, the Derwent River and surrounding mountains. Check into your accommodation and enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow travellers.

Day 2 – Port Arthur Historic Site

Travel through the scenic Tasman Peninsula to Port Arthur Historic Site, Australia’s best preserved convict settlement and one of the nation’s most important heritage attractions. Explore the fascinating buildings and grounds, enjoy an included harbour cruise and learn about the stories of the convicts and settlers who shaped Tasmania’s early history. Following lunch, return to Hobart via Eaglehawk Neck, stopping to view the dramatic rock formations of Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen before returning to your hotel.

Day 3 – Mount Field National Park and MONA

Journey through the picturesque Derwent Valley, passing the historic towns of New Norfolk and Plenty. Arrive at Mount Field National Park where towering tree ferns and giant forest trees surround the beautiful Russell Falls. Enjoy time to explore this peaceful natural setting before lunch. This afternoon visit MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art, one of Australia’s most talked about cultural attractions. Explore the unique galleries at your own pace before returning to Hobart for dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4 – Salamanca Market and Huon Valley

This morning visit the famous Salamanca Market, where local producers, artists and craftspeople showcase the very best of Tasmania. After time to browse the stalls, travel into the scenic Huon Valley, renowned for its orchards, vineyards and picturesque rural landscapes. Enjoy a picnic lunch before visiting the Tahune AirWalk. Wander along the elevated walkway and viewing platforms for spectacular views across the forest canopy and Huon River. Return to Hobart later this afternoon and enjoy dinner at your hotel.

Day 5 – Richmond and Departure

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before travelling to the historic Georgian village of Richmond. Stroll through the charming streets, browse local shops and visit Australia’s oldest stone bridge. Enjoy time to purchase morning tea before collecting lunch from the famous Richmond Bakery. Following lunch, transfer to Hobart Airport for your onward journey home, taking with you wonderful memories of Southern Tasmania’s history, scenery and hospitality.
