Tour description

Tour dates: 1st November – 7th November, 2026

Lord Howe Island is a timeless pristine paradise less than two hours flying from Sydney and is widely regarded as the most beautiful island in the Pacific. It is one of only four island groups to be inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list for the significance of its natural beauty. The pace is relaxed but there are plenty of activities and adventures to choose from.

The island is dominated by the twin peaks of Mount Gower at 875 metres and Mount Lidgbird at 777 metres and contains some spectacular bushwalks for the adventurous. The less energetic however will not have to climb too far to enjoy some of the 160 species of flowering plants or 120 species of birds or the giant Banyan trees or famous Kentia palms.

The lagoon is a beautiful expanse of calm turquoise water enclosed by a six kilometre long coral reef on the western side of the island, making it a haven for snorkelers. Colourful tropical and sub tropical fish abound with turtles and other marine life just a few strokes from shore.

Highlights include:
• All corners of the island Bus Tour
• Two hour coral viewing experience with optional snorkel
• Little Island walk and lunch at the golf club
• North Bay turtle and nature tour with lunch
• Chase’n Thyme walk and talk to Clear Place
…and most importantly time to relax or swim on this beautiful island.

Accommodation at either Blue Lagoon Lodge or Somerset Apartments

Testimonials

Dear On Course Tours Thank you so much for the wonderful 3 day trip to Oberon. It was great to go to Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens and “Bebeah” at Mt Wilson on the first day. Mayfield Gardens (the full gardens) did not disappoint and the weather was so kind to us. The rhododendrons and the crab apples were certainly on display for us. Jimmy did a great job looking after us all. The accommodation was great as well all the good food! Going to Everglades on the day we came home was an added bonus and some time in Leura was great as well. I was even home in time to plant out a replacement Daphne that I had got. l am now looking forward to the Yamba and Grafton trip – here’s hoping the weather will be kind to us. I would love next year’s program when it has been completed. I hear it is nearly finished.

Yours sincerely, RP

Dear John and Kerry, Debbie and Steve, thank you all so much at On Course Tours for the hugely successful and absolutely wonderful trip to South Australia. Tricia and I loved every moment and were amazed and delighted by how much South Australia has to offer in so very many ways, food especially and of course very many superb wines and wineries – topped off, as John rightly said, by Max’s selection of a delightful crowd of good club friends! John, you and On Course Tours are certainly a class act. You always try very hard, and you succeed, in going that ‘extra mile’. We could not have had better service, right from being picked up at the gate by Kerry, then enjoying your nearly 4,000km of safe, always careful but wonderfully exploratory driving, your delicious picnic provisioning, your excellent selection of accommodation and eateries and your very broad knowledge of all we saw, right thorough to being delivered safely home last night. With our best wishes and so many thanks to you all at On Course Tours for another truly wonderful holiday. We look forward with keen anticipation to the next!

Tricia and Martin
