Celebrate the festive season with a magical two-day escape to the beautiful Hunter Valley, combining spectacular Christmas lights, regional flavours, picturesque countryside and plenty of time to relax and enjoy the company of fellow travellers.
Our journey begins with morning tea at scenic Mangrove Creek Dam before travelling through historic Wollombi and over Mount View, surrounded by the rolling vineyards and countryside of the Hunter Valley. After a relaxed picnic lunch at Gardens Village Park, we’ll sample some of the region’s delicious produce with a local wine tasting and visit to the Hunter Valley Cheese Factory.
We’ll then settle into the Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens before enjoying a traditional festive dinner with all the trimmings. As darkness falls, it’s time for the highlight of our getaway – the spectacular Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights. More than one million twinkling lights transform the gardens, with glowing tunnels, giant baubles, themed displays, music and Christmas characters creating a wonderful festive atmosphere.
The following morning, we return to Hunter Valley Gardens to experience its beautifully landscaped grounds by daylight, with time to wander amongst the floral displays. Our day continues with a tempting visit to Hunter Valley Chocolates before travelling to Lake Macquarie for a relaxed two-course waterfront lunch.
With accommodation, meals, tastings, attractions and luxury coach travel included, this easy-paced Christmas getaway is a wonderful way to celebrate the season.
