Celebrate the colour, music and traditions of Celtic culture on this lively three-day escape to Berry, Kiama and the beautiful South Coast. Combining the excitement of the Berry Celtic Festival with spectacular coastal scenery, aviation history, charming country towns and local food and wine, this short getaway offers plenty to discover.


The journey begins with morning tea overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Stanwell Park, followed by a scenic drive through the coastal villages of the Illawarra. Explore Australia’s aviation heritage with a guided tour of the HARS Aviation Museum, enjoy lunch at Shellharbour Marina, and visit Kiama’s famous Blowhole before settling in for two nights at The Sebel Kiama.


The highlight is a full day at the Berry Celtic Festival, where the town comes alive with Celtic heritage and tradition. Watch the colourful street parade before heading to Berry Showground for the official opening and impressive massed band performance. Enjoy time at leisure to experience the music, dancing, displays and market stalls or explore Berry’s delightful shops and cafés.


The return journey travels through Kangaroo Valley and the Southern Highlands, with stops at Fitzroy Falls and Bowral before a final wine tasting at picturesque Centennial Vineyards.

Itinerary

We begin our coastal adventure with morning tea at Stanwell Park, a picturesque spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Continuing along Lawrence Hargrave Drive, we enjoy spectacular coastal views as we travel through the seaside villages of Scarborough, Coledale, Austinmer and Thirroul.

Late morning, we arrive at the HARS Aviation Museum, where we enjoy a guided tour through its fascinating collection of historic aircraft. Home to an impressive range of Australian aviation treasures, the museum provides an opportunity to get up close to remarkable aircraft while discovering the stories of Australia’s rich aviation history.

Following our visit, we continue to Shellharbour Marina, where we enjoy a leisurely lunch surrounded by the relaxed atmosphere of this beautiful waterfront precinct.

This afternoon, we make our way to Kiama for a brief sightseeing tour, including a visit to the town’s famous Blowhole. Set against Kiama’s dramatic coastline, this natural attraction has been drawing visitors for generations.

Later this afternoon, we check into the Sebel Kiama with time to settle in and relax before coming together for dinner.

After breakfast, we depart for the delightful township of Berry, where the streets come alive with the colour, music and excitement of the Berry Celtic Festival. We begin our day by watching the lively street parade as it makes its way through Berry, providing a wonderful display of Celtic heritage and tradition. We then make our way to the Berry Showground for the official opening and impressive massed band performance.

The remainder of the day is ours to enjoy at leisure. With music, dancing, displays and market stalls, there is plenty to see and experience throughout the festival, as well as time to explore the charming township of Berry. Lunch today is at our own expense, allowing us to choose from the festival fare or one of Berry’s local cafés.

This afternoon, we return to Kiama, where there is time to relax or perhaps spend some time exploring the town before returning to our hotel.

This evening, we come together for dinner and reflect on a wonderful day celebrating Celtic culture and tradition.

After breakfast, we farewell Kiama and begin our homeward journey, travelling through the picturesque coastal towns of Gerringong and Gerroa before making our way inland to the tranquil surrounds of Kangaroo Valley.

Here, we enjoy morning tea and some time to appreciate the relaxed atmosphere of this charming country village before continuing through the beautiful Southern Highlands.

Late morning, we arrive at Fitzroy Falls, where we enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the natural beauty of Morton National Park. There is time to take in the magnificent escarpment scenery and enjoy the peaceful surrounds before continuing our journey. This afternoon, we travel to Bowral, where we have free time to browse the shops and enjoy the atmosphere of this popular Southern Highlands town.

Our final stop is Centennial Vineyards, where we enjoy a wine tasting in the picturesque vineyard setting. Afterwards, we begin our journey back to Sydney, travelling via scenic Mount Gibraltar and bringing our Berry Celtic Festival adventure to a close.
